Experience
My teaching background is very diverse! My tutoring career actually started when I offered instruction to customers enabling them to properly use the technology they'd purchased from the retail store where I was employed. Later, I taught elementary students in Chicago Public Schools, and then middle school in the Chicago suburbs, where I currently teach science and reading. I have a master's degree in Reading Education from Olivet Nazarene University, and have applied for certification as a Reading Specialist. I'm passionate about teaching, especially the foundation skills of reading and writing. I taught composition at both the Writing Center at John Carroll, and also while I was a graduate student at UW-Milwaukee. My tutoring specialties are: reading, grammar and mechanics, writing, essay editing, literature, and test preparation for both the ACT (English, reading, math, science, and writing) and the SAT (math, verbal, writing, and critical reading).When I have spare time, I enjoy playing learning and video games, watching Asian films, and researching the history and culture of the Great Depression. I usually have a home improvement project in the works, and also enjoy reading young adult fiction.
